This Week in The Universe #10

After an eventful weeked in Brooklyn, WWE had its post SummerSlam shows in the same arena as well as an episode of NXT filmed before Takeover. What was good and what was bad from the fallout to the biggest party of the summer??

Raw begins with The Universal Champion Brock Lesnar with a big smile on his face along with his advocate Paul Heyman. Heyman bigged up the fact that Lesnar was carted out of a match for the first time in his career before defying doctors orders to come back and win. Heyman said there was no one in WWE or UFC that could beat Lesnar. Before they leave Braun Strowman comes down and continues the assault he started the night before taking down Lesnar with two running powerslams. Lesnar Vs Strowman is THE big match they have right now for the Universal title and I am glad they are going ahead with it! A Brooklyn Street Fight was scheduled between Enzo Amore and Big Cass however the match didn't go long. Big Cass took a rough fall to the outside and when he went for an elbow drop his knee buckled. The match was called off and it was later revealed that Cass had suffered a torn ACL in his left leg and he will be out for about nine months. Get well soon man! Nia Jax squashes Emma in another match where Emma was made to look stupid. Another squash match follows as Elias after another entertaining concert makes easy work of R-Truth. JOHN CENA IS ON RAW! OH MY GEEEEZ! Cena is now on Raw and says he is here for one superstar before he is interrupted by the music of Roman Reigns. They were trying to get into a verbal battle the crowd was more interested in chanting for Undertaker. The Miz comes out with The Miztourage and delivered a great promo demanding that he was his time for a moment. Cena suggested Miz find a partner to take on him and Reigns which brought out Joe who said he would be Miz's partner. A quick brawl took place and then the main event was set. NOICE! An 8man Tag Team match took place in the cruiserweight division that was pretty much like every other multi-man cruiserweight match on Raw. Cedric Alexander pinned Tony Nese to win the match for his team and Gran Metalik I thought looked really good in this match. We found out Akira Tozawa is getting his rematch for the Cruiserweight title on 205 Live. More on that later! An impromptu tag team match was set up next between the new champions Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose against The Hardy Boyz. This was a really good match as you would expect between these four workers. Really exciting finish and the crowd was really interested. Rollins & Ambrose win not surprisingly having just won the title but The Hardys look great as always! The new Women's champion Sasha Banks came out and cut a nice promo giving a shoutout to Ric Flair. She mentioned how she will defend the title properly unlike the former champ Alexa Bliss. Bliss comes out and makes the fair point that Banks lost that title every time she defended it. She wants her rematch next week and will make her 'the legit loser'. SALTY!! Finn Balor defeated Jason Jordan in a fine match that was set up earlier in the night. The story here is that Jordan wants big matches but needs to get better in order to win them. Will see how this story goes because it could be interesting. MAIN EVENT TIME!! The Vince McMahon dream team of John Cena & Roman Reigns defeated The Miz & Samoa Joe in a pretty standard main event tag match. The crowd was more interested in playing with a beach ball. They teased some tension between Cena & Reigns but I can't see that match happening until one of the big four PPVs.

Smackdown Live opened with the United States Champion AJ Styles. AJ said he was reinstating the open challenge which was answered by.....Kevin Owens. Styles said he was done with Owens but KO claimed he was screwed at SummerSlam. Commissioner Shane McMahon came out and said Owens could have one more match with Styles and KO could choose the ref. Aiden English was out doing some beautiful singing until he was interrupted by....GLORIOUS!! Bobby Roode is here! He has the same robe he had at Takeover and got a huge ovation when he came out. The crowd was hot for Roode throughout and not surprisingly Roode got the win with the Glorious DDT. In his office Daniel Bryan was talking to Chad Gable who is worried about his future since Jason Jordan left to go to Raw. Bryan said he cut a deal with Kurt Angle and he got Gable a new tag team partner...SHELTON BENJAMIN!! Bryan said they would have their first match together next week and Gable was super enthusiastic! This could be a fun storyline. The new Smackdown Tag Champs The Usos easily defeated The Hype Bros and then cut a great promo after the match. They truly have become an excellent team since they turned heel. Shinsuke Nakamura got sweet revenge by absolutely destroying The Singh Brothers in a handicap match and then got the upper hand on WWE Champion Jinder Mahal. This helps add some more fire to this feud and reminds everyone that Nakamura is a legit threat to the WWE Champions reign. The New Women's champion Natalya cut a decent promo talking about how SummerSlam was the night she unplugged the glow. Carmella came out with James Ellsworth who reminded Natalya that even though they were teaming tonight she is Miss MITB. Becky Lynch & Naomi came out as the team to take on Natalya & Carmella. Good match and a interesting story with Carmella not wanting to be tagged in because she might wanna cash in. Carmella finally got tagged in and was then taken out by Becky & Naomi for the win. Dolph Ziggler was backstage being interviewed and cut an overly sarcastic promo promising something exciting next week. Tamina and Lana were backstage and Lana was saying that she will make Tamina a champion and the most feared woman on Smackdown. MAIN EVENT TIME! AJ Styles defended the United States title against Kevin Owens with Baron Corbin as the chosen ref. Another good match between these two but once again the story was more about the people around them. Corbin would walk out of the match because everyone was arguing with him. Shane McMahon took over and was there to count the win for Styles after Owens bickered with Shane. Owens Vs Shane looks like a good feud going forward probably towards a match at Hell in a Cell.

The opening of 205 Live was another tag team match between Cedric Alexander & Gran Metalik and Tony Nese & Drew Gulak. Once again Alexander & Metalik were very good together and Cedric got the pin on Gulak again. I'm sure Cedric & Nese will do battle one-on-one soon. The Gentleman's Duel between Jack Gallagher & Brain Kendrick ended with Kendrick putting Gallagher through a table after being distracted by a clown. Yes they are still doing the clown stuff. Kendrick did challenge Gallagher to a No DQ match next week however so that should be good! MAIN EVENT TIME!! Neville defeated Akira Tozawa to retain the Cruiserweight title in a very good match. Probably the best match they have had so far. Neville was relentless attacking the previously injured should of Akira while Tozawa kept coming back and coming back showing off his fighting spirit. In the end Tozawa missed the Senton but Neville rolled out the way and immediately locked in The Rings of Saturn for the win. After the match Enzo Amore came out and announced he was now a part of the Cruiserweight division. Probably the best place for him now.

No Way Jose dances his way to the ring to start the special episode of NXT. The fun doesn't last long though as he is attacked by the monstrous Lars Sullivan and absolutely destroyed. This seems like a good feud for these two. Next up Peyton Royce with Billy Kay in her corner took on Sarah Logan who is one of the competitors in the Mae Young Classic. Decent match with Logan getting to show some of her skills but Royce gets the win with a Perfect Plex or Peyton Plex if you like! Royce and Kay are a fantastic & unique pair and it seems only a matter of time until they are back in the NXT Women's title picture or better yet on the main roster. Make them part of an all Aussie stable with Emma! That would be awesome!! MAIN EVENT TIME!! UK champion Pete Dunne teamed up with Wolfgang to take on Moustache Mountain boys Tyler Bate & Trent Severn. This was a very fun and fast paced match which was a very enjoyable way to end the show. Bate & Severn have teamed together alot and they did some great work in this match. In the end Wolfgang got the win with his Howling senton splash. Nice to see someone else from the UK division get a big win and perhaps he will be next to challenge for the title.
