NXT Takeover: Philadelphia 27/01/2018 Announcers: Mauro Ranallo & Percy Watson Venue: Wells Fargo Centre Location: Philadelphia, PN NXT Tag Team Title Match: The Unidsputed Era (Bobby Fish & Kyle O'Reily) (c) Vs The Authors of Pain (Akam & Rezar) with Paul Ellering First match of the night and we got a really good tag team title opener. Both teams come out to a a good reaction and Kyle playing air guitar on the title is great because it reminds me of Hollywood Hogan BROTHER!! It was interesting to see how the crowd would react to these two teams as they have both worked predominantly as heels. Undisputed are using their quickness and superior mat wrestling to work over Akam's left knee which becomes the main story of the game. Akam uses his power to get away from Undisputed long enough to make the HOT TAG to Rezar who does a great job of cleaning house. 2017 is coming to an end which means its time as always to look back on the year that was. Questionable booking decisions and storylines aside no one can deny its been a quality year of action in WWE. Whether it was on PPV, TV or a network exclusive tournament, 2017 gave us a number of memorable matches. Here I am going to list my five favourite matches from WWE this year which I think are all worthy of being called match of the year. 1. Seth Rollins Vs Triple H (w/Stephanie McMahon) - Unsanctioned Match (Wrestlemania 33) Say what you will about Triple H, when it comes to Wrestlemania matches from a presentation point of view he always brings it. The awesome promo package before hand featuring Metallica and the epic entrances really set the stage for this anything goes grudge match. Announcers: Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuiness & Percy Watson Location: Brooklyn, NY Venue: Barclays Centre The opening contest for Takeover was Johnny Gargano taking on Andrade 'Cien' Almas who had Zelina Vega in his corner. Gargano tweeted before the show that his new shirt had already sold out in the arena. That is good news because Gargano was SUPER over throughout this match. They looked very intent on stealing the show and really set the bar for the rest of the night. The speed of this match rarely slowed down throughout starting with with great chain and mat wrestling before Almas starts to work on Gargano's arm catching it in a triangle hold over the top rope. They trade blows back and forth with Almas slapping Gargano which just fires him up and Almas eats a seated roundhouse kick for his troubles.
