This Week in The Universe 2018 #8

A very action heavy Raw this week with an incredible opening match. The first half the show was dedicated to a Gauntlet match featuring the 7 competitors in the Men's Elimination Chamber. This match would go on to make history as the longest WWE match in 54 years at over 90 minutes. The first hour was a real powerhouse performance from Seth Rollins were he defeated both Roman Reigns & John Cena in two gruelling contests worthy of main eventing any show. He would eventually be eliminated by Elias and received a standing ovation on his way out. Finn Balor would go for about 30 minutes himself first eliminating Elias before The Miz with the help of The Miztourage eliminated him. The final man in the Gauntlet was Braun Strowman who would demolish The Miz and The Miztourage to win the match. Greatest Gauntlet match of all time? Quite Possibly! In other action Titus Worldwide notched another non-title victory over the Tag champions The Bar which has managed to earn them a title m

The road to Wrestlemania and the Raw exclusive PPV Elimination Chamber took another surprising turn this week. Seth Rollins declared he was done being a tag team competitor and convinced GM Kurt Angle that he wanted in on the final qualifying match for the men's Chamber match. That match would now become a Fatal 5-Way which ended in SHENANIGANS as both Seth & Finn Balor pinned Bray Wyatt (poor Bray!). After the show went off the air Angle announced that both Seth & Finn would be added to the Chamber match which for the first time would be a 7-man match. Gotta appreciate WWE doing something different and to be fair Seth & Finn should both be in the match. Speaking of the men's Chamber match in the most pointless match ever John Cena beat The Miz (for what seems like the hundredth time!) in a match where the loser is the first to start the Chamber. I mean there are 2, possibly ,3 who start this match so no.1 is no worse off than 2 or 3! Angle also announced that R

I've been feeling terribly under the weather the last few days so this weeks blog is going to a bit briefer than usual. The road to Elimination Chamber is full steam ahead and we got two more qualifying matches for the Men's chamber match. Roman Reigns defeated Bray Wyatt in a match that was better than I was expecting even though the outcome was kinda obvious. Reigns would pull double duty later in the night stepping into the injured Jason Jordan's place of Seth Rollins tag partner to challenge The Bar to the belts. The match was fun and resulted in Jordan accidentally costing Rollins/Reigns the match continuing their story. In the other qualifying match The Miz punched his ticket to the chamber defeating Apollo Crews. Crews had another great performance and will be part of a second chance 4 way match next week against Finn Balor, Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt. The participants for the first ever Women's chamber match were announced as Alexa Bliss will defend

Following a historic Sunday Night, Raw had a new logo, new intro music and Johnathan Coachman returning to replace Booker T at the announce desk. The show properly kicked off with the winner of the first ever Women's Rumble match Asuka and Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon. She advised Asuka not to choose her Wrestlemania opponent because more history will be made with the first ever Women's Elimination Chamber match for the Raw Women's Title. NOICE!! In the meantime Sasha Banks wanted a piece of Asuka after her marathon performance the previous night which lead to instant classic first time encounter between two of Raw's best performers. Say what you will about WWE giving away first time matches on free TV I'm always happy to see great matches! Asuka managed to get the win and maintain her undefeated streak in what was probably the closest she has come to losing in WWE so far. There will be a second elimination chamber match at the PPV which will determine who

WWE Royal Rumble 2018 Review

WWE Royal Rumble 2018 28/01/18 Announcers: Tom Phillips, Michael Cole, Corey Graves,  Byron Saxton, Booker T & Stephanie McMahon. Venue: Wells Fargo Centre Location: Philadelphia, PN WWE Championship 2-on-1 Handicap Match: Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn Vs AJ Styles (c). Not often you see a WWE title match open up a major show but I was pleasantly surprised by how good this match was. Then again considering the calibre of talent in this match, even with the build to this match being so weird, I shouldn't be too surprised! Early part of the match Kami were being heel jerks continually taking in and out before AJ could do anything. Eventually Kami took over and Styles did a great job as he always does selling being beaten down. They did some very creative spots to for AJ to get hs comeback and Owens was also selling his leg injury from the previous Smackdown. And one point AJ gets hit with a superkick from Owens and then a Blue Thunder Bomb from Zayn but manage

NXT Takeover: Philadelphia Review

NXT Takeover: Philadelphia 27/01/2018 Announcers: Mauro Ranallo & Percy Watson Venue: Wells Fargo Centre Location: Philadelphia, PN NXT Tag Team Title Match: The Unidsputed Era (Bobby Fish & Kyle O'Reily) (c) Vs The Authors of Pain (Akam & Rezar) with Paul Ellering First match of the night and we got a really good tag team title opener. Both teams come out to a a good reaction and Kyle playing air guitar on the title is great because it reminds me of Hollywood Hogan BROTHER!! It was interesting to see how the crowd would react to these two teams as they have both worked predominantly as heels. Undisputed are using their quickness and superior mat wrestling to work over Akam's left knee which becomes the main story of the game. Akam uses his power to get away from Undisputed long enough to make the HOT TAG to Rezar who does a great job of cleaning house. Really impressed with AOP in this match in a rare instance of playing the babyface role and th

Happy 25th Birthday Monday Night Raw! How did WWE choose to celebrate this milestone? With a very, VERY nostalgia heavy episode. The show took place at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn but also the Manhattan Centre which was a nice idea in theory but really didn't work at all. Only about a quarter of the show came from Manhattan as we saw a very weird sort of retirement speech from The Undertaker, Bray Wyatt mostly squashing 'Woken' Matt Hardy & The Revival receiving mostly squash treatment from The Balor Club and The Kliq. Which is a shame because they made an effort with the set and the crowd was passionate for what they got even if it wasn't alot. What the Barclays Centre got was better but not by much. The McMahon family opened the show and were interrupted by Stone Cold Steve Austin who drank some beers and dished out some stunners. The crowd pop when the glass shatters is still the loudest of anything in wrestling. An 8-woman tag team match happened which t

Braun Strowman came out to open Raw to tell us all a story about a machine and a beast. This brought out GM Kurt Angle who had a story for Braun which concluded with him being fired! Well, that should go well! Security tried to get Braun to leave but he destroyed them and said he wasn't finished! NOICE!! First match of the night is a rematch from last weeks upset as The Bar takes on Titus World-WIIIDDDEEE!! Longer match than last week but once again TW get another win over The Bar this time thanks to an assist from the interfering Jason Jordan. The Bar is hella mad and Seth Rollins came out looking like a disapointed big brother. Braun is stomping around backstage and literally kicks down Angle's door and trashes the room. Braun makes his way to catering and destroys the catering area including slamming Curt Hawkins through a table. As he leaves he bumps into a guy holding chocolate cake, which Braun takes a massive bite out of and then leaves. Finally we have found a w

Raw this week for once did not begin with a GM promo but instead an appearance by the IC champion Roman Reigns. Reigns was feeling pretty good about his win over Samoa Joe last week til he was interrupted by Jason Jordan who wants to be a part of The Shield. This brought out Seth Rollins who was trying to calm down baby Angle. Jordan said they were the most dominant three man team which brought out THE BALOR CLUB! They were amused by Jordan's words with Balor telling Jordan they've been running together for ten years before Jodran knew Kurt Angle was his Dad. BURN!! Balor Club get in the ring and Gallows calls Jordan a NEEERRRRDDD! Jordan slaps Gallows and they have to be held back by their team mates. GM Angle came out and made the predictable 6-man Tag Team main event. First match of the night is Sasha Banks & Bayley with Mickie James in their corner taking on Absolution's Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville who has Paige with them. Decent Tag match with Sasha maki

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you have had a good start to the year so far. This Week as there wasn't a proper episode of NXT and I haven't had the chance to see 205Live I'm just going to cover what happened on Raw & SDLive. Just like pretty much every Raw of 2017, the first of 2018 starts with a GM in the ring. Kurt Angle is out to announce that the Women's Royal Rumble match will be the same as the Men's in that there will be 30 participants and over the top rope eliminations. NOICE!! The Bar came out made about losing the tag titles last week to Seth Rollins & Jason Jordan and accused Angle of playing favourites. This brought out Jordan who challenged Cesaro to a match which Rollins came out to say he would be in Jordan's corner but didn't exactly seem too happy about Jordan going into business for himself. Jordan Vs Cesaro was next and was a decent match as you would expect from two athletic dudes. Jordan got the win and after the match Rol
